What happens

Connie Brooks, an English teacher at Madison High School, is given a rare black orchid by her student Walter Denton. Walter believes he has found uranium on his shoe after a Geiger counter reacted in the chemistry lab, and he wants Connie's help to get permission to use the instrument. Connie decides to pass the orchid to the principal, Mr. Conklin, as a peace offering, but the gift is mixed up with a birthday present for Mrs. Conklin. Our Miss Brooks is a comedy series starring Eve Arden, and this episode was broadcast by CBS Radio on May 21, 1950. The story follows the confusion over the orchid, the Geiger counter and a birthday gift as Connie, Walter and Mr. Boynton try to smooth things over with Mr. Conklin.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
