What happens

Our Miss Brooks: Poison Ivy is a 1953 episode of the OTRR Our Miss Brooks Singles series, first broadcast on CBS Radio on October 4, 1953, with Eve Arden, Gale Gordon, Jeff Chandler and Richard Crenna among the cast. On the first day of school, English teacher Connie Brooks rushes to Mr. Conklin's office after a late start, the trip there going badly from the first moments. Her landlady's gift plant, a gift-wrapped pot, becomes the thing she passes along to Conklin, and a series of mix-ups begins to involve her colleagues, a Mr. Barnaby, and an important visitor from the state board of education. The story follows her as her morning spirals and her efforts to fix matters bring more confusion to the school.

Characters: Connie Brooks, Mr. Conklin, Mrs. Davis, Walter Denton, Mr. Boynton, Mr. Barnaby, Milton Cragway, Mrs. Gregory York

Listen for: Connie's phone call with the eccentric neighbor Milton Cragway over their shared party line, and the gift-wrapped potted plant passed from hand to hand

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
