What happens
Miss Connie Brooks, an English teacher at Madison High School, hopes to become head of the English department after Mrs. Emma Finch announces she is leaving the post. Connie seeks advice from her landlady Mrs. Davis and her student Walter Denton, and she considers how to win favor with principal Mr. Conklin. Her rival, Miss Enright, is also eager for the position, and both teachers prepare for a decision that depends on their students' final exam results. This is an episode of the Our Miss Brooks radio series, first broadcast on CBS Radio on January 23, 1949, with Eve Arden in the title role and Gale Gordon, Jeff Chandler and Richard Crenna among the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
