What happens

Miss Brooks, an English teacher at Madison High School, is eager to take on a new business administration course, and she is up against Miss Enright, a rival teacher, for the job. Principal Mr. Conklin is unimpressed by her qualifications, so Miss Brooks and Walter Denton hatch a plan to win him over with a bargain on fuel oil. Their scheme involves a furnace and a barrel of oil, and it quickly begins to go wrong. This is the Our Miss Brooks series, a CBS Radio program, originally broadcast on February 11, 1951, with Eve Arden in the title role and Gale Gordon as Mr. Conklin.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
