What happens
Harry Lime and his companion Henry Lee run a confidence scheme in Paris, targeting a lonely American tourist named Henry Elton. They befriend him and bring in Lizette, a woman who claims her family once hid a treasure, and the three agree to buy a jewel case said to hold a map to it. The men press Henry to invest a large sum, while Lizette hesitates. Their plan depends on the dealer's price and on the hidden fortune being real, and the case is found to be only the start of their scheme. The Mercury Theatre on the Air presents this episode, first broadcast on May 9, 1952.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
