What happens

Harry Lime and his associate Horace Winderman plan to steal a valuable Vermeer painting from Barnsley Hall, the country seat of Lord Rexton, and sell it to an American buyer, Joseph J. Hoffman. Lime works as the go-between, promising Horace a cut of the sale. After Horace leaves for England, Lime travels to London to pursue the deal, following leads from a junk shop owner and a series of dealers who handled the pieces Horace stole. The painting passes from hand to hand as Lime tracks it down, and he meets Inspector Leib along the way.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
