What happens
Brutus, Cassius and Mark Antony are the central figures as Julius Caesar, having made himself the most powerful man in Rome, faces growing unease among the citizens and senators. Cassius works to enlist Brutus in a conspiracy against Caesar, arguing that Caesar's ambition threatens the republic. Omens and warnings gather as the conspirators weigh their plan and debate how far it should go. Caesar is depicted in a dramatic production of Shakespeare's play, with Orson Welles playing Brutus and Martin Gabel playing Cassius. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
