What happens

Lamont Cranston, a wealthy playboy, and his companion Margot Lane investigate the disappearances of several boys who vanished on a dangerous cliff trail in the North Carolina hills. Sheriff McLean reports that another child has been lost, and locals blame ghosts, citing howling heard before each disappearance. Cranston follows the clue of the howling dogs toward a dilapidated mansion where an old woman and her hunchbacked son live under the watch of fierce hounds. The episode is part of The Mercury Theatre on the Air series and first aired on February 20, 1938, with the Shadow adventure adapted from the pulp magazine character.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
