About The Night Shift: The Late Show

The Night Shift: The Late Show is a free old time radio horror channel from Stupid Potato, the long-form side of The Night Shift. Where the main channel plays spooky songs and trailers, The Late Show plays the long ones whole: classic horror radio dramas like Inner Sanctum Mysteries, horror film audio and soundtrack suites, with a short break of vintage commercials now and then, the way the late movie on local TV used to run. Listen free online, live 24 hours a day, with no account and no app.

Inner Sanctum Mysteries premiered on the Blue Network in January 1941. Producer Himan Brown opened every show with a slowly creaking door and a host named Raymond who greeted listeners with gallows-humor puns, and that door became one of the most famous sounds in radio. The stories mixed murder, madness and the supernatural, often with a last-minute twist, and the 1941 season included an adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart." Played complete, these half hours still work the way they were built to: in the dark, with your imagination doing the rest.

The channel belongs to Vivienne Vayne, the vampire hostess of The Night Shift, who has been awake since the silent era and naturally prefers the long features. The Late Show suits old-time radio horror fans, lovers of classic horror film scores, and anyone who wants a full-length story to fall asleep to, or to stay awake through. It is a live stream only; the daily Night Shift podcast is on the main channel's page.
