What happens

Master detective Nick Carter investigates the murder of Jason Grange, a rare coin dealer, who is shot three times through the heart. The killer steals an extremely valuable 1804 silver dollar worth $10,000, one of only three known to exist. Nick theorizes the murder was committed to advertise the theft so the killer can counterfeit and sell multiple copies of the rare coin.

New York City, primarily in Jason Grange's coin shop near Maiden Lane and later Nick Carter's office and laboratory

Characters: Nick Carter, Patsy Bowen, Sally Ann Mason, Mr. Brown, Jason Grange, Maddie, Louie, Betsy

Listen for: The clever deduction about why only one coin was stolen despite the availability of cash and valuable items; the revelation that the 1804 silver dollar was written in blood by the killer, not the victim; and Nick's theory about counterfeiting rare coins for profit.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
