What happens

Nick Carter investigates the death of Jeremy Hawthorne, an elderly chess player found in his basement apartment with an apparent suicide note. Carter quickly discovers the note was forged and Hawthorne was murdered, not a suicide. A rhinestone medallion from the Month Club nightclub found at the scene points Carter toward a dancer named Jenny Valentine and a tangled web of debt, stolen property, and deception surrounding a valuable jeweled queen.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
