What happens

When elderly Gerald Gould dies of apparent heart failure, Dr. Bradford discovers a cryptic note under his body saying "He killed me." Nick Carter investigates and finds evidence of murder: the dead man's drink glass bears only his own fingerprints, suggesting someone deliberately gave him a fatal stimulant. The case deepens when a newly drawn will leaving everything to eldest son Raymond is revealed to be a forgery, and a mysterious letter from Alice Fenwick threatens to expose something Gould wanted kept secret.

A detective's office, Gerald Gould's home, police headquarters, a lawyer's office, and suburban locations around the city.

Characters: Nick Carter, Patsy Bowen, Dr. Bradford, Gerald Gould, Raymond Gould, Peter Gould, Amelia Waters, Delphina Hayes

Listen for: The clever use of fingerprint evidence and typewriter samples to uncover the truth; Nick Carter's deduction methods as he pieces together clues from the forged will and mysterious letters; the twist involving Jack Gould and Alice Fenwick's connection to the case.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
