What happens
Irma Peterson shares a flat with her roommate Kay Foster, and Kay's patience is often tested by Irma's blunders. When Irma receives a letter from her family announcing that her brother Gerald, a lecturer, will visit New York, Kay sees a chance to impress her rival Hazel Carson. She invites the members of the Philosophical Society to a lecture at their apartment. Irma's friends prepare for the event with mixed success, and the household's hopes for an impressive afternoon are set in motion. The episode is part of the long-running comedy series My Friend Irma, first broadcast on CBS Radio on July 12, 1954, starring Marie Wilson, Cathy Lewis, Hans Conried and Alan Reed.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
