What happens
Irma and her roommate Jane help Mrs. O'Reilly plan a charity show for the widows and orphans of the fire department. Irma's boyfriend Al has decided to manage a prize fighter, Murder Mushy, who is inexperienced and reluctant. Al hopes the charity bout will show off his fighter to promoters, and Mrs. O'Reilly lines up a match against the fire department's heavyweight champion, Mike Flanagan. The plans keep getting complicated as the fight night approaches. This is My Friend Irma from the CBS Radio series, with Marie Wilson as Irma and Cathy Lewis as Jane, and Alan Reed in the role of Al.
New York City, in the apartment Irma and Jane share, and around the charity show being organized for the fire department's widows and orphans.
Characters: Irma, Jane, Al, Mushy, Mrs. O'Reilly, Mike Flanagan, Libby
Listen for: Al's scheming plans to make his fighter famous and Mrs. O'Reilly's efforts to put together the charity show.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
