What happens
Irma Peterson, a scatterbrained secretary, decides to become a columnist after the West Side Shopper invites readers to contribute unpaid pieces. Her roommate Jane Stacey tries to steer her away from the idea, but Irma writes a column of beauty hints and neighborhood gossip, and she gathers material from friends and acquaintances. Her efforts bring her into conversations with neighbors, a landlady, and the police station, and she soon takes the editor's call for copy seriously. The story is part of the My Friend Irma radio comedy, first broadcast on CBS Radio on June 23, 1953, with Marie Wilson as Irma and Cathy Lewis as Jane.

Characters: Irma Peterson, Jane Stacey, Mrs. O'Reilly, Mr. Fletcher
Listen for: Irma's efforts to write her gossip column and Jane's attempts to dissuade her
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
