What happens
Irma and her roommate Jane Stacy are invited to a charity masquerade ball at the Long Island estate of Mrs. Richard Rhinelander, while Erma Peterson is left out. The ball aims to raise money for orphan children, and Richard's mother is determined to beat the total set by Mrs. Van Clyve the year before. Al Cravatte and Professor Kropotkin are also drawn into the preparations for the event, and Irma and her friends try to help raise funds. This is the October 11, 1948 episode of the My Friend Irma series, broadcast on CBS Radio and starring Marie Wilson and Cathy Lewis.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
