About The Midnight Exchange

The Midnight Exchange is a free old time radio suspense and mystery channel from Stupid Potato: complete episodes of classic radio thrillers, horror and mystery, played back to back 24 hours a day. It plays Suspense, The Whistler, Escape, Inner Sanctum Mysteries, The Mysterious Traveler, Crime Classics, Weird Circle, The Black Museum, The Sealed Book and more. Listen free online with no account, or follow The Midnight Exchange podcast for new episodes from its series.

Suspense, which CBS billed as "radio's outstanding theater of thrills," ran from 1942 to 1962 and often cast Hollywood stars against type. Its most famous show, Lucille Fletcher's "Sorry, Wrong Number," starred Agnes Moorehead as a bedridden woman who overhears a murder plot on a crossed telephone line, and it was performed again and again. Escape answered with adventure, like "Three Skeleton Key," in which lighthouse keepers are besieged by rats. The Whistler opened with a whistled theme and a man who knew "many things," and Inner Sanctum with its famous creaking door.

Your night operator is Ophelia Crane, who works the graveyard shift at a 1940s telephone exchange and patches each caller through to tonight's story: velvet-voiced, dry, delighted by a good twist and careful never to spoil the ending. The channel is for mystery and horror fans, true-crime listeners, insomniacs and anyone who wants a complete half-hour story on a dark drive. Suspense, The Whistler and most of the other series also have their own podcast pages here.
