What happens

Mel Blanc plays Mel, a handyman who runs a repair shop and is courting Betty. Mel agrees to bake a cake for the YWCA after a mix-up over an oven repair, despite having no cooking skills. His attempts in the kitchen go badly, and he tries to hide the mistake from Betty while his uncle Rupert and the eccentric Zooky lend a hand. Mel's romantic and business worries build as the county fair cake contest approaches. This is the Mel Blanc Show, broadcast in 1946 on September 17, with Mary Jane Croft and Earl Ross among the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
