What happens

Young Sally and Jim Carter are preparing to leave Midland, the small city where Sally has always lived, because Jim has accepted a job in Capital City. Sally is determined to go with him, but her parents, Dan and Martha Hayes, strongly object and believe she should stay in Midland at least until her baby is born. Dan begins planting doubts in Jim's mind about whether Sally truly wants to make the move. Sally, meanwhile, begins to hear things that unsettle her about Jim's plans. This is a chapter of The Mary Lee Taylor Program, a daytime radio serial, first broadcast on October 23, 1948.

Midland, a small city, and Capital City, where Jim has taken a new job

Characters: Sally Carter, Jim Carter, Dan Hayes, Martha Hayes, Mary Lee Taylor

Listen for: Dan Hayes's conversations with Jim and with Sally, and how each of them reacts to what he says

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
