What happens
Ken Thurston, an agent working for a government bureau, is sent to Rangoon after a cable from Lao Raoul, a former resistance leader, is intercepted and Raoul vanishes. Suspecting that strategic war materials are being diverted behind the Iron Curtain, Ken links the case to rubber and tin shipments and to a Rangoon hostess, Olga Marovna, whose parties draw businessmen and officials. Working with a small-time hustler named Pagan, Ken questions contacts at a seedy club, looks into a shipping outfit, and finds that a bookmaker named Hawkins has been killed. The episode is the chapter of the series The Man Called X, first broadcast on November 11, 1950, starring Herbert Marshall in the title role, and it ends on a note of rising suspicion.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
