What happens

Mr. X, a secret agent, is drawn into a smuggling plot in the Middle East after pilot Jack Buckley is shot down near a Syrian oasis. In Beirut, Ken Thurston and Pagon are told that Buckley was carrying arms for Arab tribes, and that the tapline oil pipeline is under threat. Thurston accepts an invitation to a house party at Merswa, owned by Stephen Edwards, where Marilis and Hassan are among the guests. Thurston's own flight to the desert estate ends in a suspicious landing on a field lit by portable lights. The episode is part of The Man Called X, starring Herbert Marshall, and originally aired on December 9, 1950.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
