What happens

Maisie, a broke actress newly arrived in Florida, auditions for agents Joe and Manny Howard, who are looking for acts for vaudeville. They reject her, but she meets an aging performer named Schultz and his dog Sonia, whom he calls the smartest dog in the world. Maisie agrees to work with them, and the dog is then picked up by a dog catcher after running off during a visit to the agents' office. Maisie tries to recover her from the pound and the fire department, facing license fees and delays while the show's afternoon performance approaches. The Adventures of Maisie, starring Ann Sothern, aired on January 12, 1950.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
