What happens
Maisie, a boarding-house resident from Brooklyn, is frustrated with her fiancé Eddie Jordan, an engineering graduate who keeps standing her up while he studies in the library. Eddie hopes to win a draftsman's job with the Bradley Engineering Company by submitting the best sketch for a new suspension bridge, but a rival engineer, Bill Maddox, has borrowed the reference book Eddie needs. Maisie, a close friend of Eddie's, and Merton work out a plan to disrupt Maddox's concentration before the competition closes the next morning. This is part of The Adventures of Maisie, a series starring Ann Sothern, first broadcast on January 5, 1950.
A boarding house and a public library in an American city, a hotel, and the Bradley Engineering Company offices.
Characters: Maisie, Eddie Jordan, Merton, Gladys Hornwagel, Bill Maddox, Philip J. Bradley
Listen for: Maisie's attempts to help Eddie win the bridge-design competition, and the mix-up that follows at the Brighton Hotel.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
