What happens

Tom Edison, a restless boy in Port Huron, Michigan, is constantly inventing things and getting into trouble with his father, Sam, his mother, Nancy, and his teacher, Miss Howard. After a schoolroom prank and a quarrel over his experiments, Tom is pulled from school and turned out with his baskets of candy and newspapers. His sister Tanny looks on as Tom tries to build a small business on the train line, with his father skeptical and his mother hopeful. The story follows Tom's efforts to start his own enterprise and to find a place for his ideas. Mickey Rooney plays Tom, Dulcie Bondi plays his mother, and Virginia Weidler plays Tanny in this Lux Radio Theatre adaptation, broadcast December 23, 1940.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
