What happens
Rick Martin, a gifted trumpet player, is shaped early by Art Hazard, a veteran jazz trumpeter in Los Angeles who gives him his first lessons. Rick plays for money in dance bands but reserves his real music for himself, which causes friction with his bandleader Jack Chandler. Joe Jordan, a singer in the band, becomes a close friend, while Rick's life grows more unsettled as he pursues the jazz he loves. This is the Lux Radio Theatre production of Young Man with a Horn, aired March 3, 1952, starring Kirk Douglas, Joe Stafford and Patrice Weimar.
Los Angeles and later New York City, in the dance halls, nightclubs and jazz rooms of the period.

Listen for: Rick's trumpet playing and his conversations with Art Hazard, Joe Jordan and Amy Norris.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
