What happens
Lockwood, a traveler lost on the moors, takes shelter at Wuthering Heights, where the servant Ellen tells him the story of the household. Lux Radio Theatre presents this 1939 broadcast of Emily Bronte's novel, which first aired on September 18, 1939, starring Barbara Stanwick, Brian Ahern and Ida Lupino. Ellen recounts how Mr. Earnshaw brought home a foundling boy named Heathcliff, and how he and Cathy grew up together on the moors. Their bond is tested as Cathy is drawn into the world of the Linton family, and Heathcliff's place in the household becomes increasingly bitter.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
