What happens
Julia Scott, the efficient secretary to Richard Lening, the president of a New York department store, secretly loves her employer, who has sworn off romance since a bitter divorce. When an offer to manage a San Francisco store tempts her away, Richard proposes a sensible arrangement instead, and the two fly to Maryville and marry. At the Lening mansion the next morning, the household is far from welcoming: Richard's daughter Annabelle is staging a hunger strike, and Gertrude, Richard's sister, is openly hostile to the new bride. This is the Lux Radio Theatre production of She Married Her Boss, first broadcast on September 25, 1939, starring Ginger Rogers and George Brent with Edith Fellows.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
