What happens
Police detective Mark Dixon, a man known for his hatred of criminals, is demoted after a complaint and then drawn into a murder. Dixon and his partner Paul Klein are on patrol when they find Morrison, a wealthy gambler from Texas, dead at the 43rd Street Hotel, where the gambling gangster Tommy Scalise runs a dice game. Dixon searches for Kenneth Payne, who was with Morrison and fought with him, and his investigation brings him into contact with Payne's estranged wife, Morgan Taylor. The Lux Radio Theatre production of Where the Sidewalk Ends, broadcast April 2, 1951, stars Dana Andrews as Dixon and Anne Baxter as Morgan Taylor.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
