What happens

Holly Martins, an American writer, arrives in postwar Vienna for the funeral of his old friend Harry Lime, who was killed by a truck. Major Callaway doubts that the death was an accident and suspects Lime was involved in criminal dealings. Martins meets Baron Kurtz and Dr. Vinkle, and later Anna Schmidt, an actress who was close to Lime. As he questions the people around his friend, Martins begins to doubt the official account of the death. The Lux Radio Theatre production of The Third Man, starring Joseph Cotton and Evelyn Keys, first aired on April 9, 1951.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
