What happens

Emiliano Zapata, a peasant from the Mexican village of Anenecuilco, watches his people lose their land to landowners who fence it off, and he leads them into rebellion. Pablo, a loyal friend, carries messages between Zapata and the reform leader Francisco Madero, who promises justice. Zapata's wife Josefa and his sense of duty press against his wish for a peaceful life. This Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the 20th Century Fox film Viva Zapata, first broadcast on November 3, 1952, stars Jean Peters and Gene Peters. Jean Peters plays Josefa, and Gene Peters plays Zapata. The story follows Zapata's struggle to balance the fight for his people's rights with the demands of peace and power.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
