What happens

Mary Rafferty, the daughter of a crippled steelworker, takes a job as a servant in the Pittsburgh household of William Scott, the mill owner whose machinery left her father disabled. In the Scott household she meets Paul Stark, the mill owner's son, who is devoted to the steel works and to his new open hearth furnace idea. Their growing closeness is complicated by the Scott family's expectations and by the bitterness Mary's father still feels toward the Scotts. Broadcast on Lux Radio Theatre on January 14, 1946, this adaptation of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer screenplay Valley of Decision stars Greer Garson and Gregory Peck.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
