What happens
Nancy, a small-town singer from Messina, meets the wealthy Stephen Duncan on a train bound for New York. Their flirtation quickly turns into a hasty, unplanned marriage, when Stephen, drinking heavily, proposes on the night of his brother Tommy's wedding. Once the impulsive wedding has taken place, Nancy finds herself adjusting to a life of nightclubs and parties, all while nursing feelings for her new husband. This episode of Lux Radio Theatre, first broadcast on October 6, 1941, stars Irene Dunne and Donald Woods, drawn from the film Unfinished Business. The story is set in New York and its social circles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
