What happens
Margot Merrick, editor of a fashion magazine, has invented an imaginary husband, Tony, to keep her job, since her employer's jealous wife dislikes unmarried editors. When Jeff Thompson, a self-described buggy whip salesman, turns up and claims to be Tony Merrick, Margot is unsettled. The first act has Margot's office life, her friend Philip Booth pressing her about her marriage, and her forged letters from a husband who never appears. Jeff's story in a ship's cabin is tangled with a painting dealer. The Lux Radio Theatre production stars Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Martha Scott, and this broadcast is a comedy from the 1941 season.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
