What happens

Two draftees, Smitty and Herbie, played by Bud Abbott and Lou Costello, arrive at an army camp after a string of trouble on the way. Early on they sell neckties on a street corner, flee a police car, and sneak into a movie line where they are registered for a drawing. A former employer named Randy Parker and a hostess named Judy Gray also turn up at the camp. Smitty and Herbie also take part in a dice game on the train. Their new sergeant recognizes them, and the men settle into camp life under Captain Williams. The series is Lux Radio Theatre, and this episode aired on October 13, 1941.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
