What happens

Anne Hamilton, a shy and unassured young woman, marries Alan Garaway, a wealthy inventor, and finds herself out of place among his sophisticated Washington friends. Alan confides that his brother Michael once cheated him, and his mother died soon after, and he is troubled by his brother's disappearance. Anne tries to adapt to her new life while Alan grows increasingly unsettled. This Lux Radio Theatre production, first broadcast on October 6, 1947, stars Katharine Hepburn and Robert Taylor. The couple travel to Middleburg, Virginia, the house where Alan grew up, and Anne begins to notice strange signs tied to his family's past.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
