What happens
Anne Crandall, the widowed mayor of Brookhaven, Vermont, is a dignified woman whose late husband Jonathan's bronze statue in the town park has been struck by lightning and lost its head. The local editor Buchanan demands its removal, but Anne insists it be repaired and commissions a new statue from the New York sculptor George Corday. Anne travels to New York to interview Corday, and their meeting leads to a night out that goes badly wrong. The story is part of the Lux Radio Theatre series, with Maureen O'Hara starring, and was first broadcast on May 10, 1955.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
