What happens

Michael Davis returns to Diamond Star, a port in British Southwest Africa, after being driven out, and he is determined to recover his license to guide hunters in the prohibited diamond area. He confronts Commandant Paul Vogel, who ruined his gear and reminds him of past violence, and Davis then drinks with Dr. Hunter, who knows the story of a guide who once found diamonds in the sand. Davis meets Suzanne Renault, the niece of a major French stockholder, and his life grows tangled with Vogel, the superintendent Arthur Mottingale, and Martin Gayle. The broadcast presents this adaptation of the 1955 Lux Radio Theatre production, which starred Victor Mature in a version of Rope of Sand, as it follows the men and women drawn into the diamond fields.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
