What happens
Peter Grimm, an elderly nurseryman, lives in an old house with his adopted ward Catherine, his secretary James, and the small boy William. Dr. McPherson, an old friend who believes in spirits, tries to hold a seance in the house, but Peter scoffs and the session ends in an argument. Peter has decided that Catherine should marry his nephew Frederick, who has just returned from abroad, and he tells the doctor that the couple will carry on the household. The story is a radio adaptation of the play by David Belasco, broadcast on the Lux Radio Theatre on February 13, 1939. Lionel Barrymore, Edward Arnold, Maureen O'Sullivan and Peter Holden star in the roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
