What happens

In 1789 in the Tennessee Territory, young lawyer Andrew Jackson arrives at the Donaldson home near Nashville and is welcomed as a boarder. He quickly grows fond of the widow's daughter Rachel, whose unhappy marriage to Lewis Robards has ended in separation. Rachel returns to her family, and Andrew, who has been treated warmly by the household, is drawn into her troubles. This episode is part of the Lux Radio Theatre series, originally broadcast on September 28, 1953, with Charlton Heston and Joan Fontaine in the lead roles of Andrew and Rachel Jackson. The story is adapted from Irving Stone's novel about Andrew Jackson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
