What happens
In the old walled city of Quebec, Father Michael Logan and his former sweetheart Ruth Keller are caught up in a murder investigation. Keller, a German refugee who works at the rectory, confesses to Logan that he killed the lawyer Villette during a robbery. Inspector LaRou begins questioning everyone connected to the case, and a witness reports seeing a priest leaving the house. Logan and Ruth are drawn into the investigation as the police press closer. This is the first act of the Lux Radio Theatre production of I Confess, broadcast on 1953-09-21 and starring Cary Grant and Phyllis Thaxter.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
