What happens
Charlotte Lovell is about to marry Jim Rolston when her cousin Delia gives her a cameo from Clem Spender, a man Charlotte once loved. The episode of Lux Radio Theatre, first broadcast on October 30, 1939, is adapted by Zoe Akins from Edith Wharton's story and features Loretta Young and Miriam Hopkins as the cousins. Delia, long engaged to Clem before marrying Rolston, is revealed to be bitter over Charlotte's past. Charlotte later works at a nursery, where she cares for a young foundling named Tina. Joseph Rolston, Jim's brother, wants Charlotte to give up the nursery after their marriage, and tension grows between them as Delia takes a hand in the matter.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
