What happens
Eleanor Wayne, a wealthy New York society girl, meets King Cole, a young heavyweight prize fighter, at a boxing match in 1927 after her father, who knows nothing of the fight business, considers buying half of his contract. Despite their clashing worlds, the two are drawn to each other and soon marry. Eleanor's father questions the match, and Hank Hardy, the fighter's manager, worries that a woman will distract King from his goal of winning the championship. This Lux Radio Theatre broadcast, dated October 23, 1939, stars Fred MacMurray and Madeline Carroll. The story is adapted from a Paramount picture.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
