What happens
In medieval Paris, the poet Francois Villon and his band of rogues steal food from the king's storehouse while the city starves under siege. Villon narrowly escapes the king's guards and is taken in by Father Villon, the priest who raised him. He glimpses a beautiful lady, Catherine, leaving a church and recites a poem to her. Later, Villon is arrested and brought before King Louis XI, who holds a surprising offer. This Lux Radio Theatre production, first broadcast on October 16, 1939, stars Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Frances Dee and Sir Cedric Hardwick.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
