What happens

Ferdinand Varen, a former German officer now posing as a Belgian prisoner, arrives in the town of Cola after the Allies have taken it. He seeks shelter with Martha Varen, widow of a collaborator, and her daughter Nina. Meanwhile, Major Philip Carson organizes the town's survivors to rebuild their fields and mills, and Joseph Cartry is named his civilian assistant. Cartry, embittered by the war, begins plotting to take control of the ruined mill with money hidden in the Varen house. Tensions rise between Nina and her returned sweetheart, Frank Bartok, as the town struggles to recover and trust is tested among its people.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
