What happens

Bob Hope tells of his wartime tour of American military bases and hospitals overseas, from the delayed departure from New York and a bleeding nose aboard a Clipper flight that turns back over the Atlantic, through London, where he and his troupe perform for servicemen and civilians. Francis Langford, Jerry Colona and Tony Romano travel with him, meeting bomber crews, hospital patients and infantrymen on the rain-soaked moors of England. The program is the Lux Radio Theatre's dramatization of Hope's book I Never Left Home, broadcast on January 8, 1945, with Cecil B. DeMille as producer. The story is told as a series of light anecdotes and encounters, with Hope narrating and the performers playing themselves.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
