What happens
Nora Hunter, a wealthy heiress, has moved to a smaller house on her California estate while her mansion serves as a rest center for Army Air Force officers. Her secretary Sylvia takes her place at a party, and Nora mingles with the officers to see whether they are interested in her for herself rather than her fortune. The story is adapted from the RKO comedy of the same name. The Lux Radio Theatre broadcast of Bride by Mistake starred Lorraine Day, John Hodiak, and Marsha Hunt, with Cecil B. DeMille as producer.
A rest home for Army Air Force officers on an exclusive California coast estate owned by heiress Nora Hunter, including her mansion and a smaller house on the grounds.
Characters: Nora Hunter, Sylvia Lockwood, Tony Travis, John, Donald, Philip, Harris, Corey
Listen for: Nora and Sylvia swapping places at the party, and Tony Travis meeting the woman he believes to be the heiress.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
