What happens

Susan Applegate, a beauty-salon operator in New York, leaves a job she dislikes and buys a half-fare train ticket by posing as a twelve-year-old. On the train she meets Major Philip Kirby, an army instructor who is her travelling companion and begins to look after her. Her disguise leads to awkward encounters with the major, his fiancee Pamela Hill, and others, and Susan finds herself drawn into the Wallace Military Institute. This Lux Radio Theatre production, broadcast on May 31, 1943, stars Ginger Rogers and Ray Milland, based on the Paramount comedy.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
