What happens

Dwight Dawson, head of the Dawson Institute of Success, is struggling to sell his courses when he hits on a publicity stunt: a contest to find the nation's ideal subject. Thaddeus Page, a contented boat-rental man who wants nothing more than to keep living as he is, wins the contest and its prize. Dawson and his assistant Claire Harris are determined to enroll him in the course anyway. This episode of the Lux Radio Theatre was broadcast on September 28, 1942, and stars Henry Fonda, Donna Meichi and Lynn Barry, the cast of the film. Page refuses the course, and Claire begins to see his point of view.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
