What happens

Pete Van Allen, a flier, lands in a Maryland pasture and calls on Maggie, a woman he has loved for years, at her old colonial plantation house. He has married the concert pianist Sandra in haste, and Maggie wants nothing more to do with him. Pete insists he was never legally married to Sandra, because her divorce was not yet final, and he asks Maggie to marry him again. The Lux Radio Theatre production, broadcast on March 2, 1942, stars Loretta Young, George Brent and Mary Astor, adapted from the Warner Brothers picture. Pete then receives a letter summoning him to Washington, and his plans shift. The transcript ends before the story's later developments.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
