What happens

In early 1900s New York, Emily Dunning, a young woman determined to become a doctor, is turned away from city hospital posts because of prejudice against women in medicine. Her friend Dr. Yeoman's helps her secure an appointment at Gouverneur Hospital, where she becomes the first woman intern. Emily faces hostility from the medical director, Dr. Pauling, and from some of her colleagues, while her former classmate Ben Barringer works alongside her. The Lux Radio Theatre production, broadcast May 18, 1953, stars June Allyson and Steve Forrest in this drama adapted for the series.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
